Casting and Patination at Bergmans Konstgjuteri, Enskede 2013

The images document a visit to Bergmans Konstgjuteri in Enskede in 2013, where Sivert Lindblom, together with Leif Schölin, followed the work with casting and patination in the workshop. Bergmans Konstgjuteri has been and is an invaluable operation for the Swedish cultural heritage.
The situation for the operation is critical: the foundry has been given notice to vacate by the end of the year by the property owner, who intends to demolish the property.
If the foundry is forced to leave, the operation will cease to exist, thereby eradicating 130 years of invaluable craftsmanship.
A letter of protest has been drafted to reconsider the unfair handling of the matter.

"Therefore, we request that the government, the City of Stockholm (Stockholms stad), and the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) immediately take measures to ensure preservation through protective legislation in the current detailed development plan, to prevent a national cultural treasure from being lost before any potential planning work can even begin.

Concrete Demands – Immediate Action

We demand that the City of Stockholm (Stockholms stad), the City Planning Committee (Stadsbyggnadsnämnden), and the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) act immediately:

1. Immediate protection: Immediately introduce a demolition ban and a strong cultural protection provision (Q-marking) for the property Kristinedal 8 within the framework of the current detailed development plan. This is necessary to stop the acute demolition intent.

2. Operational security: Secure the property so that it explicitly permits "cultural craft and industrial activity" (Art Foundry).

The Friends of Herman Bergman Konstgjuteri demand that the city takes its responsibility to preserve this cultural heritage – historically, presently, and in relation to the World Heritage Site Skogskyrkogården – by immediately stopping the demolition threat from the property owner."

Demolition or conversion of the property Kristinedal 8 would mean an irreversible eradication.
