Intervju med Sivert Lindblom
Interview with Sivert Lindblom published in the journal Arkitektur no. 5, 1983. Editorial interview about art in public environments and collaboration with architects.
— How do you see the relationship between artist and architect in a public commission?
— It is about dialogue — about mutual listening. I am not interested in taking a finished sculpture and placing it in an already finished space. I am interested in understanding what the place needs, what the architecture lacks, and then finding a form that responds to that.
— Is there a risk that art is subordinated to architecture?
— Always. It is a constant negotiation. But I have had the good fortune to work with architects who see art as an equal partner, not as decoration. When it works best it is hard to say where architecture ends and art begins.
