Sivert Lindblom's 5 fountains in Gustav Adolfs torg in Malmö became the final phase of the new design of the renovated square. This is a film clip (9:46 min) from "Torg i Tiden". It describes the creation of Sivert Lindblom's 5 fountains in Gustav Adolfs torg in Malmö, which became the final phase of the new design of the renovated square (1999-2002). Malmö City Street Department has, together with Vision Recording TV AB, produced the short film about the square's history and renewal with the title Torg i tiden. The first phase was inaugurated on May 16, 1997, and initially shows His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf planting one of seven maple trees for a royal grove in the square as a 50th birthday gift to the King. The later part of the presentation video, after approx. 13:30 min, describes the creation of Sivert Lindblom's five bronze fountains with running water and flames at the top on June 12, 1999, in the presence of Jörgen Faxe, chairman of Malmö Förskönings- & Planteringsförening, and Ilmar Reepalu, chairman of the municipal executive board in Malmö. Malmö Förskönings- och Planteringsförening has been active for more than 125 years and has always had three guiding principles: "Beautify, care for, and preserve." The association's purpose is to further develop the cultural heritage in Malmö, as well as to work for beautifications such as plantings and artistic embellishment, to make the growing industrial city greener, more beautiful, and healthier.
