In 1972, NUNSKU organized a group exhibition in two Japanese cities with the theme 'A Contemporary Theme'. The exhibition opened on April 8 and lasted until May 21, 1972, at The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. Thereafter, the exhibition continued to Kyoto, where it opened on May 27 and lasted until June 18 at The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.
NUNSKU stands for Nämnden för utställningar av nutida svensk konst i utlandet (The Board for Exhibitions of Contemporary Swedish Art Abroad), a former state body that worked to showcase Swedish contemporary art internationally. It was founded in 1965 to strengthen and disseminate Swedish art beyond Sweden's borders. The Venice Biennale was under NUNSKU's responsibility during part of its operational period. NUNSKU was discontinued at the turn of the year 1996/1997, when its activities were transferred to Moderna Museet on January 1, 1997.
