In 1966, Sivert Lindblom exhibited his earliest free-form sculptures from the years 1960–63 at Hantverkshuset. The exhibition consisted of his first bronze castings in several variations, with titles such as Venustorso, Nike, Självbild, and Relief. Most of the works had already been sold by the opening of the exhibition but had been loaned for the exhibition.
"For several decades, Hantverkshuset and Västerbotten County Art Association were central concepts for the visual arts scene in Umeå, where the art association used the venerable building (also known as Aschanska villan or previously as a property on Vasagatan) as a venue for acclaimed art exhibitions. Västerbotten County Art Association was formed on September 23, 1935, to promote interest in art in the county, award scholarships, and build local art collections. For a long time, Hantverkshuset served as an important exhibition venue and meeting place for the art association's exhibitions in Umeå, where, among others, renowned artists exhibited over the years. The activities gradually diminished towards the end of the 20th century, but the traces of the association's donations and art collections (such as Helge Linden's Memorial Fund) have been of great importance for the cultural life in the region." /JÖ
