From Konst på stan, published by Uppsala Cultural Committee in 1992, one can read this description:
A twisted, monolithic fountain outside the entrance to the City Library at the end of the pedestrian street.
Inside the library's small forecourt, the entrance is marked by an urn without flowers.
The urn – here a cornucopia in bronze on a granite plinth – has been filled with objects from art history. Here are fragments from a two-thousand-year-old, archaic smile, the goddess's face. The goddess of fertility, Venus, flanks and gives us a time perspective of 15,000 years. At the very bottom sits an Egyptian scribe from the Old Kingdom, bent over his hieroglyphs. Beside him, a weightlifter grimaces.
Examples of human creation in visual form lead us into the world of books. Into the act of creation in written form.”
