Nobel Forum, Solna, 1993

For the Nobel Foundation's building, Nobel Forum in Stockholm, which is part of the Karolinska Institutet environment, Sivert was commissioned to adorn the visitors' entrance with an urn – or pot – in cast iron. It functions as a welcoming gesture in the building's entrance hall and is constantly transformed by the floral arrangements placed within it. In this way, the urn takes on a changing form that follows both the variations of the seasons and the different events taking place in the building.

The urn's pedestal form has several "sister variants" in various locations, including Stockholm. One variant can be found at Blasieholmstorg and another at Norra begravningsplatsen. The motifs can thus be seen as parts of a recurring formal language in Sivert's work, where the urn functions both as a utilitarian object and as an independent sculptural form.

Nobel Forum was designed in the 1980s by architect Johan Celsing, who chose to design the building according to the same fundamental architectural principles as the other buildings in the area. The building is characterized by a restrained and classically oriented architecture, where materials and details are given great importance.

Nobel Forum has also been enriched with an extensive art collection, mainly consisting of graphic works by Swedish artists. The interior is in many ways an aesthetic masterpiece. The stylish and classically inspired premises are characterized by continuous warm wood paneling, which recurs in custom-designed furniture and other fixed interior fittings. Against the light walls, an airy, Scandinavian, and understated whole is created, where art and architecture cooperate rather than compete.

Nobel Forum is a donation to the state and has significant architectural and cultural-historical value. The building is owned and managed by Statens fastighetsverk. In this environment, Sivert's urn plays a special role: it is both a functional object, a recurring sculptural form, and a part of the welcoming design of Nobel Forum's entrance."
