Artistic decoration of Västra skogen Subway Station. Marked surfaces with multicolored tiles. Alongside these color fields, there is the raw rock surface. At the beginning and end of the platform, Sivert's profile face reappears as if from the rock. The tiling has been done in collaboration with Marianne Lindblom.
In Västra Skogen in Solna, Sivert has, as part of SL's decoration of its subway stations, been responsible for the decor. Here, together with Marianne, he places some fields of richly colored tiles against the blasted raw rock chamber.
In a number of open spaces between the tracks, there are colossal-sized profiles of a human face emerging from the eskers that run along the tracks in the tunnel shaft as a hint of the underground powers. On the railway embankment between the tracks, ridges of cobblestones undulate as if a slumbering force were at work in the underworld.
The decor is used with a simple, practically oriented meaning. But it simultaneously has a darker and more symbolic value.
Material, color, and figures are chosen and mixed sparingly and with consideration for both historical and immediately emotional associations. Natural stone represents background and base, antiquity and eternity, matter and time.
